Alexander Rose manufactures garden furniture which will last for many years. Over time, as part of the natural weathering process, cracks and splits will appear in the wood particularly on the end grain and to a lesser extent on the surface. The drier the wood, the more cracks will appear due to natural oils and minerals in the wood which evaporate due to exposure to the elements. As with most hardwoods, this is normal behaviour for any timber which remains outdoors.

Our furniture is designed with this in mind and its strength and durability will remain unaffected. Wooden furniture can be treated with our specially formulated care products to give a beautiful rich finish and enhance the look of the wood. Alternatively it can be left to turn a silver grey, and should be cleaned occasionally with soapy water.

Alexander Rose manufactures garden furniture which will last for many years. Over time, as part of the natural weathering process, the furniture will start to change, and therefore will benefit from occasional maintenance. Here are some cleaning tips for you to follow:

Stainless Steel requires occasional cleaning in order to maintain its appearance. We recommend our 2 in 1 stainless steel cleaner and protective polisher which is available from all Alexander Rose stockists.

FSC Teak can be cleaned using soapy water and a stiff brush, allowing it to dry fully before the application of any timber treatment. More severe stains such as spillages, bird droppings and mildew etc. can be removed by the use of our cleaner, which is available from all Alexander Rose stockists. Alternatively, sand using a medium grit sandpaper.

Viro Weave fibres are specially designed and engineered for outdoor use. They have been UV and weather tested and are guaranteed for 3 years, free from defects of cracking, peeling or breaking as well as being nontoxic and 100% recyclable. The Viro weave cleans easily with mild soap and water.

Textilene is a tough synthetic fabric made of PVC coated polyester. It has specially formulated yarns developed to withstand UV fading, mildew and the most severe weather conditions. Textilene fabric cleans easily using mild soapy water.

Glass often shows up finger prints and smudges which are easily removed by using a damp E-cloth. For very dirty surfaces, you might need to use some water diluted with washing up liquid applied with a sponge, then wiped dry before buffing with the E-Cloth. Alternatively you can use any household glass cleaner and a nonabrasive cloth.

Granite being a natural stone has variations from piece to piece and often within the same product. These variations can be in the form of colour change, fossils, deposits, pits, dull patches, calcite lines or fissures. None of these variations should be regarded as a fault as every top is unique. The colour of granite can change over the length of the top, also dull or discoloured areas may occur on the surface that will not polish out, this is due to the change in the hardness of the granite and again this is not a fault but a natural occurrence. The sandblasted textured surface comes ready coated in a solvent based sealer and we recommend resealing biannually to prevent staining. Granite solvent sealers are available from local hardware stores.
