AquaReef 200 Marine Aquarium - Overview
Marine systems live and die by the filtration system.
Aquareef 200 aquaria incorporates a revolutionary adaption
to many traditional 'in-tank' filters in that it has been designed
to allow the progression from traditional forms of biological filtration
through to the incredibly effective 'Refugia'.
Combined with the effective T5 lighting the system provides
a simple to operate but incredibly effective marine life support.
Once fully matured, 'Refugia' is generally acknowledged
by leading marine experts as one of the most successful
forms of filtration for most species of fish and invertebrates.
Combined with the integrated protein skimmer
the Aquareef 200 offers levels of filtration which go beyond
normal requirements for this size of Aquaria.
Aquareef is therefore more forgiving for the beginner.

The new aquareef 200 comes with all the technology required to make marine fish keeping so much easier.
Available as a complete set of AQUARIUM,HOOD AND CABINET.
Combined with the a revolutionary refugium style filter with a protein skimmer and T5 lighting.
Based on the Regency range of aquariums , ther cabinet has been modified to accommodate a chiller if required.
The refugium filin the back of the tank which eliminates the need for drilled glass or messy filters in the cabinet.
The weater then stays where it belongs in the aquarium.

Explanation of how the filter works :
1: Overflow from the aquarium, removes fine waste materials which if left can form an unsightly scum on the surface.
2: Down flow and settlement zone : Located in this chamber is the heater stat where the downward flow of the water encourages an even distribution of temperature through the filter and the aquarium
3: Dark refugia : When established the dark refugia provides the optimum environment along with a large surface area for the nitrifying bacteria.It also provides a specialist environment for the growth of a colony of light sensitive organisms.Many of these organisms have evolved in the deep dark crevices of coral reefs where they become extremely efficient at consuming waste products.Comparatively large particles of stone ensure an even flow of water up through the chamber where larger particles of waste are retained which are either consumed by the organisms or fall to the base where they can be siphoned off.
4 ; Upflow light refugia :The light refugia also provides a large surface area for colonisation by nitrifying bacteria, populated by bacteria from the upper levels of coral reefs.By having this colony away from the inhabitants of the aquarium it's effectiveness is enhanced.
5 : Downflow chamber : The water is aerated as it cascades across a deflector into this chamber,this provides a visual indicator of when the aquarium needs topped up.During the maturation phase of the aquarium when the water quality may begin to deteriorate,the aquarist can use this chamber as a very effective traditional biological filter by using the fine foam provided . Optional .activated carbon can be used during the maturation phase. Once the aquarium has matured this can be replaced with lava rock or live rock to increase the capacity of the refugia.
6 :Downflow dark refugia : As the final chamber within the filter system this provides the ideal environment for the organisms that have evolved in the deep crevices of the coral reef.
7 : Circulation pumps : The circulation pumps provide the water circulation in the main aquarium to mimic the turbulence associated with coral reefs to help provide optimal environmental condtions.
8 ; Final chamber with protein skimmer : The skimmer removes the fine waste material that would ultimately lead to a deterioration in water clarity and quality,The skimmer pump turms over approximately 1000 litres per hour.
9 : Skimmer collection cup :The skimmer produces a fine brown watery substance that is collected within the cup.The cup is located where the aquarist can easily remove,wash and replace it.
10 : Skimmer return : The water is aerated and returned to the aquarium.

The special cabinet is extremely well ventilated to accommodate the Marisys or a chiller if required , there are outlets for cables in the rear of the cabinet.
